REFLECTIONS OF A FORBIDDEN ARCHEOLOGIST

The concept of intelligent design is gaining force in academic circles. One sign of this growing
influence was the conference “Science and Evidence for Design in the Universe” held at Yale
University. It was good, for a change of pace, to be going to a conference where I would not be
speaking. I wanted to go because my own work in forbidden archeology definitely points in the
direction of intelligent design, and intelligent design is part of the argument I am making in my
next book, Human Devolution. In Forbidden Archeology, I presented physical evidence for extreme
human antiquity. The evidence includes human skeletal remains and artifacts going back hundreds
of millions of years. The evidence goes so far back in time that it is not easily possible to explain it
in terms of any Darwinian evolutionary process. That is not just my conclusion. An eminent Harvard
evolutionary scientist, William W. Howells, said the same thing in a letter he wrote to me about my
book, Forbidden Archeology. So if the evidence for human origins cannot be explained in evolutionary
fashion, how then is it to be explained? Some kind of intelligent design seems to be required. From
my studies in the ancient Sanskrit writings of India, I am, of course, inclined toward some kind of theistic
design explanation for our origins. But there is more than the archeological evidence that points in that
direction. The biomolecular structures in human beings display irreducible complexity. They are systems
and structures within the body that are composed of many closely interacting parts, and their arrangement
is such that it seems impossible that they could have arisen step by step in any evolutionary fashion. If
any one of the parts were missing, the structure or system would not work. The fine-tuning of the physical
constants and initial conditions of the universe also point to intelligent design. Without such fine-tuning,
we would not be able to exist. To avoid the conclusion of intelligent design, some have proposed that there
have been many millions of universes, with varying initial conditions and physical laws, and we just happen
to be in the one in which everything is arranged just right. In other words, we have won the lottery. But this
just pushes the problem back a step further, because then it would seem that the proposed "random universe
generator" would itself have to be very finely-tuned to produce a multitude of universes. There is converging
evidence from many different areas of science, all pointing to intelligent design as the best explanation for
our presence.

FORUM: Comrades in the Evolution Revolution

Question: May I ask you a question? Perhaps we modern humans were created
by the Anunnaki, about 120,000 years ago or perhaps you feel we were not. But
my complete question is, who or what Divine Source, if any, created anatomically
modern humans many MILLIONS of years ago on earth? In your view, could we,
and all biological life for that matter, have been created by numerous ancient
extra-terrestrials, other than the Anunnaki, or do you feel that God directly created
modern man, many MILLIONS of years ago along with the dinosaurs?

Answer: To answer your question properly would take a book. I am writing such a
book now, but it will not be ready for some time. So I will reply briefly. The physical
evidence for the presence of anatomically modern humans goes back much further
than 120,000 years. Before asking where human beings come from, we should ask
the question what is a human being. For me, the evidence suggests that we are a
combination of matter, mind, and spirit. From my studies in the ancient writings of
India, I conclude that we are originally spirit beings who have come to this world and
been covered by bodies of mind and matter. This process has been going on perpetually,
through many creations of many universes in the course of endless cyclical time. The
spirit part of our being is not created. It eternally exists along with God. But when we
turn from God, we are placed into the material universe, and we are given bodies. The
process of body giving is carried out by demigod agents of God. There is a reproductive
element to this body giving process. In other words, in the course of their reproductive
activities at the demigod level, the demigod and demigoddesses produce offspring that
have gross material bodies, such as the human body. These bodies are placed on the
material planets such as our earth. Once this happens, the normal human reproductive
process starts taking place. According to the Vedas, there are 400,000 humanlike bodies
scattered throughout the universe, in the planets of the demigods and the planets of our
experience on our level of reality. During the course of history, there may be reproductive
encounters between the humans on this planet and the demigods, or the humanlike beings
from other planets like our own. So the process of human origins is quite complex, involving
(1) overall oversight by a supreme guiding intelligence (God), (2) a process of descent with
modification, through the reproductive processes of demigods, whereby the original spiritual
essence of certain entities is covered with mind and matter, and (3) ongoing extradimensional
and extraterrestrial reproductive contacts. This is about as much as I can say now. Hopefully
in a year or two, the book will be ready, and you can look at the whole case with its supporting
evidence laid out in great detail.

Question: Have you investigated the engraved stones of Ica, Peru? I recently visited the
museum of Dr. Javier Cabrera Darques, which contains thousands of stones engraved with
images showing humans and dinosaurs co-existing, and many other themes. His book,
The Message of the Engraved Stones of Ica is fascinating. The stones are andesite, show
little oxidation, and are quite well preserved. Some estimate them to be 65-230 million years
old. Would be interested in your comments.

Answer: I am aware of the Ica stones, but have not visited the museum. As you can see
from my work, I am not opposed to having intelligent humans existing on this planet tens
and even hundreds of millions of years ago. But when I present evidence for this, I look
for two things: (1) anatomically modern human skeletal remains or artifacts that would
normally be attributed to anatomically modern humans, and (2) some good evidence for
the actual age of the bones or artifacts, which most usually include reporting of the exact
place and circumstances of discovery, so that the geological age of the bones or artifacts
can be determined. The Ica stones fulfill the first requirement, but information about the
second requirement is lacking, because the exact locations of the discoveries have not been
made public. This makes it very hard to justify the ages of the artifacts. If the places of
discovery were known, and it could be verified that the objects were found solidly embedded
in geological formations dating back to the Cretaceous, Jurassic, or Triassic, in circumstances
that ruled out planting or intrusion from more recent levels, that would be very good. This
would establish their age. The simple presence of engravings of dinosaurs and humans,
although suggestive, does not establish their age sufficiently. So I have an open mind about
their possible great antiquity, but would like to see geological evidence establishing their age.

ANOMALOUS DISCOVERIES

Dear Michael,

I don’t know if you remember my past letters. I am a collaborator of the Italian Nexus Magazine
and I live near Savona. Almost 2 years ago I found a book by Arthur Issel entitled “Liguria Preistorica”.
It was printed in 1908 and it dealt with the “Anthropoid” of Savona. In fact Issel changed his mind from
the previous Congress of Anthropology of Paris in 1867 and considered the skeleton no more human but
humanoid. Then I looked for those fossils in some Museums of Genova and I wrote to you that nobody
could give me information.

Well, here is the news! Yesterday I found the so-called Anthropoid, or better his remains: fragments of
mandibular, parietal, omer, femur, clavicula and some other bones. They are conserved in the warehouse
of the Archeological Museum of Villa Pallavicini. I couldn’t see them but I learned that an important Italian
Anthropologist from the University of Pisa studied those remains and stated that they are HUMAN.
Obviously in his mind this automatically means that it was a recent burial.

Now I’m very excited and I’m going to phone to the professor asking for his relation and I’m also going to
explore the area of the finding with a geologist, my friend, in order to examine the formation of Pliocenic
Man and obtain information about its stratigrafic features.

I will inform you as soon as possible. I wish you the best success for your research and I long for your
next book (I hope it will be translated in Italian) or for an interesting film on Forbidden Archeology.

Thank you for your reports on your investigations into the Savona human skeletal remains. As you know,
I discussed that case in Forbidden Archeology. So I regard your work as very important. Some time ago,
someone from Italy (perhaps you?) wrote to me that the bones of the Savona skeleton had been lost
during floods that hit the museum in which they were being kept. So it is good to hear that some of the
bones are still available for study. Although the area where the bones were found is now urbanized, it still
might be possible to do some productive research. For this, you would have to see if you can determine
from the original reports exactly where the bones were found, and then search the modern geological
reports for that specific area. As for tests, there are not many that I can think of that would accurately date
the bone itself if it really is 3-4 million years old, as the original reports indicate. The radiocarbon method
is accurate only to about 50,000 years to 100,000 years at most. The uranium series method is probably
best, but it would, as you say, require that some bone be destroyed. I think the cost is not actually so
great. At the moment, I don't know of any test for bone of this age that would not require some sample to
be destroyed.

Editor’s note: We have since received an update on The Man of Savona from our Italian correspondent:

Update: It is impossible to examine the geology in the site of the discovery because the area is completely
urbanized. I cannot see the bones of the skeleton of Savona until the study of the Anthropologist from
Pisa is published. Moreover, I will be authorized to take photos of the fossil only after the Commission
of the Museum will have examined and approved the purpose of my research (imagine how they will be
happy to know that I state that skeleton to be 3-4 million years old!). Dating with radio-isotopes is almost
impossible to have, for its cost and because some pieces of the bones should be destroyed.
